Cannot invite collaborators to repository

I tried inviting another user via username. After i select the correct user from the dropdown, their username is replaced by some internal id (looks kinda like this: user/12345678) and the invite button is disabled.

Hey were you ever able to find a fix for this? I'm having the same exact issue

To invite collaborators to your repository:

Go to your repository on GitHub
Click Settings tab
Click Collaborators on the left sidebar
Click "Add people" button
Type their GitHub username or email
Click "Add [username] to this repository"
They will receive an email invitation to accept!

Note: If you can't find the Collaborators option, make sure you are the owner of the repository and not just a contributor.
